How to: Travel as a Fashionista

Traveling can take a real toll on you emotionally and physically. It can be exhausting and draining, this past week I moved from New Hampshire to North Carolina which included a 13 hour car ride. Below are my tips for smooth travel that leave you a little less gross and a lot more relaxed.

Dress in comfortable cute clothes: As a fashionista I don't like to leave my house is less than adorable clothing but traveling is not condusive to high heels and skinny jeans. I opted for a pair of comfortable black crop pants (that are sold in the pajama section of Target!) and a lace tank top so I was adorable and comfortable. (Here is my dirty little secret... I wear these pants on a regular basis, I think they look like goucho pants, no one has ever commented on me wearing PJ's!)

Gilligan & OMalley for Target... check them out here.

The tank I wore was from Maurices it's called the "Crinkle Cami" it has a beautiful lace detail and comes in some fabulous colors! I recently bought 2 for the price of 1 at my local Maurices so be sure to check out the sales!

Because you never know what type of weather you will encounter this look is also perfect for easy layering... throw a shawl or sweater in your carry on or car and you are good to go!

Now that we have the outfit down let's move on to grooming!

FACIAL TOWELETTES: Traveling causes me to feel super icky! Stale air, a long time sitting, different weather all can take a toll on your beautiful skin. Bring with you facial towelettes, my favorite are from Yes to Cucumbers, they smell amazing and leave your skin feeling very clean and refreshed. No water or rinsing needed simply swipe and go! These beauties can be purchased at Target or other local drug stores.

MASCARA: So if you have read anything from my previous blog "Glossy Gurl" you will know how much I love mascara, it's a life saver and helps you immediately look more alert and put together. My new fav. (although it's constantly changing) is Maybelline- Volum' Express the Mega Plush. This mascara is perfect for travel because it's a gel formula so you don't get the stiff spidery legs and it's light enough you can add multiple coats or keep it to one or two for subtle lashes. Check it out here.

WATER: Drink water, you may be tired and want that redbull or third coffee but water is the most important tip I can give you while traveling. Drink it, lots of it, it will help keep your skin fresh and keep you hydrated. Also every time you have to stop to pee you can stretch a little bit which is good for your muscles!

So there you have it, my simple and super effective ways to travel! I hope everyone is enjoying your summer!
