What's Hot: Ombre Highlights

Remember the days of scrounging up cash to book an emergency hair appointment because, gasp, your roots are just dreadful!? They are over. Introducing ombre highlights, this is not a new look by any means but is certainly newly accepted. It can be a whimsical romantic look like Jessica Biel rocks

or a more punk rock look like Ashlee Simpson rocks here.

 

 

If you are going to attempt this look make sure it's with a stylist who knows how to do it or it can be a total disaster. Don't worry some of our favorite celebs have attempted it and failed miserably giving me pictures to prove my point to you.

Now Drew is just a cutie... LOVE HER but this is a total ombre disaster. Notice how the highlights all start at the same level? That is a no no with an ombre highlight it needs to be feathered for a more natural less dramatic look (note photos above)

These highlights are just not meant for straight hair, color flaws show and it just looks too choppy. Like Katherine McPhes ombre highlights here.

If you are going to try these sometimes tacky tresses be sure you're informed and ask your stylist if they have had success in the past with this style.

Tip: Don't go crazy on the color, go 1 or 2 shades lighter than your base for a more natural sun kissed look.
