How to: Spring Ahead with Class
Spring ahead sucks let's be real. We lose a precious hour of our beauty sleep and if you are at all like me this sleep is desperately needed. Here are a few tips to get you through this hellish ordeal and look like nothing changed.
1. Go to bed an hour earlier... I know it's annoying and you feel wicked old hitting the sheets at 9 rather than 10 but trust me it's worth it especially if you have to work super early like I did (hello 5 am becomes 4 am) ew!
2. Put your clothes out the night before, remember when your mom would pick out your clothes and lay them out before school? Well my Mom did at least and that is a great idea in this case. So channel Mom a bit and prepare your outfit- accessories etc. the night before to take any guess work out of your morning.
3. Shower the night before, seriously it's okay, in fact take a bath and relax it's my favorite way to get ready for bed. You will wake with dry hair so you may need minimal straightening or curling no blowdrier required!
4. Avoid the snooze button, it's tempting to hit snooze when your alarm starts swearing at you during your precious zzz's but honestly those extra 5 minutes don't do anything for you and actually increase your feelings of being tired. If you just can't avoid it put your alarm across the room so you have to wake up to hit it.
5. Eat protein, if you normally skip breakfast plan to eat some protein this morning, it helps to stimulate your mind. In turn avoid simple carbs, your daily donut is a no no you will just crash and feel more tired.
6. Drink water, it helps you get going, seriously water is a cure all. Feel free to splash it around your face a bit too. Make it icy cold for a real jolt in the am, no energy drink required.
7. Do minimal makeup, if you are a fashionista I am giving you permission to do less than normal and GASP wear none, that's okay too. (for those inept at sarcasm that gasp was satircal)
8. Be kind to yourself, don't beat yourself up for being a bit sluggish or tired. The rest of us are feeling the same way and it's okay to have an off day.
9. Do anything you can the night before, okay this is a little vast but seriously if you can do it the night before take the extra time out of your morning and do it! Make lunch, prepare the coffee etc.
Good luck Glossy Gurls I hope you enjoy your spring forward and remember this means more sunlight so wear some SPF to protect that precious skin!
