How to get the most fab lashes ever!!

Hola Glossy Gurls!! This is my first post.. so please, be kind! When Nicole asked me to contribute to Glossy Gurl, I knew immediately what wanted to write about first. LASHES! To say I am obsessed with eyelashes would be an understatement. The problem is I can't afford eyelash extensions and I am a clumsy mess when it comes to putting on my own fake lashes. So that really only leaves the old fashioned way... MASCARA!

Now I used to be a die hard Maybelline Great Lash Mascara fan. All of the beauty experts swear by it and I seemed to be getting the best bang for my buck with it. But I was wrong!! I made it my mission over the last year to get the biggest lashes possible from drug store mascara. Along my lash journey I discovered CG's Lash Blast. I got a lot of compliments from the lash blast but it still wasn't enough... I wanted moreeeee!!! That's when discovered the BEST MASCARA EVER! Well okay, its not one mascara, it's two!! This magic marriage happened completely by accident... and what a happy accident it was! Here's how to get the fancy look above!

For the look on my eyes I started out with a super pigmented bright purple eye shadow from Urban Decay called Psychedelic Sister. Mine came out of the UD <3's nyc palette that I got for Christmas last year but you can buy the single shadow at Sephora. I applied that directly to just the lids. With a lot of my bright shadows, I like to pair it with a shimmery shadow on top of it to make it glitter. For this look I used M.A.C.'s pigment in Kitschmas ($20) which is a shimmering pink that I like to think makes things look like light hitting the snow right after a storm. I recommend this pigment for use over pretty much any bold shadow. I get compliments on it everywhere I go and I have owned that jar of pigment for over 10 years! So even though the $20 price tag is a little steep, a little goes a hell of a long way!

To finish off the eye look I just use a black liquid eyeliner on my lids. My favorite at the moment is Milani's Infinite Liquid Eyeliner in Everlast.($6.49) I'm sure there are better liquid liners out there but this one if my favorite because of its staying power. This liner won't even come off lightly with soap and water. But it does stay very black for a very long time and for the price you really can't beat it.

On to the main event...the mascara! I guess I finally need to tell you my secret. First, I prime my eyelashes with the white side of the tube of L'Oreal's Double Extend Beauty Tubes ($9). This first coat will go on white and should dry so you can't see it anymore. Don't worry if there is some white still showing. It will be covered by the coat of mascara you will be putting on after. After applying a generous coat on each eye, wait a full minute and let it dry before applying your mascara. Now this tube has two sides to it and does come with mascara. The problem is, the mascara that it comes with SUCKS! The first time I used it I was so unhappy with the outcome that I almost threw this mascara away for good. But then someone suggested that I try my own mascara with it if I was so unhappy with the outcome. I did just that and the outcome is what you see above! The mascara that I swear by is Rimmel London Lash Accelerator ($9). Before I discovered the L'Oreal Double Extend, I was using just the Rimmel. And while the Rimmel is fantastic on its own, the combination of the two is unbelievable. The outcome of these two together is so fantastic that my makeup artist friend Cristin thought I had fake lashes on!!

Here is the end result! Try it on for size and let me know what you think!
