Make Up Expiration Dates!

Expired make up can have serious consequences, they carry bacteria and can cause infection! These are my rules of thumb for make up!

First off did you know all make up is now required to have an expiration date on it? They aren't necessarily big but if you look closely on the bottle or the packaging it will have a little symbol that looks like this...
The number inside is the number of months recommended

If you are a Glossy Gurl like me you have too much make up to possibly wear it and use it all up... here are my rules of thumb for expiring make up! So I take the recommended toss dates as a suggestion not a rule. My Urban Decay Naked Palette suggests it's tossed after 6 months... yeah right a $50- palette tossed after such a short time? If you take care of your instruments, brushes etc. you can totally extend the life of your products!

Here are my guidelines:

1. If you haven't seen it in months TOSS it (unless it's unopened, that has totally happened to me)

2. Trial size mascaras are the perfect buy because you SHOULD not use mascara past 3 months and who really uses an entire tube of mascara in 3 months? If you get any sort of eye infection, a stye, pink eye WHATEVER... TOSS IT.

3. Liquid Eye Liner is the same thing as mascara (see above)

4. Eye shadows can last up to 18 months... like with any product if the color starts to change or you see things growing in it... TOSS IT

5. Anything Pressed or Powdery can last 12-18 months (foundation, eyeshadow etc)

6. Lip stick up to 18 months but like with eye make up if you have any infection (cold sore etc) and you have worn this lip stick.. toss it!

7. Any cream products, foundation etc. can be used for around 12 months. If anything changes, smell, color etc. toss it.

Hope this helps

Review: LORAC- Front of the Line PRO- liquid eye liner

I have a seriously fab product to tell you about today. I love liquid eyeliner it creates such a pigmented and sharp line that just can't be reached with any other type of product. I know first hand how hard it can be to apply liquid eyeliner. I have had several issues with liners including opening my eye and the liner migrating to my crease, smudging/ bleeding and the worse is just a sloppy line so it looks bad and you have to start over. I have tried so many products and received this from my sister for Christmas. I will never use another liquid liner again!

First let me tell you about Lorac:
Carol Shaw, one of Hollywood's most sought after makeup artists, created LORAC as a way to put the glitz and glamour of red-carpet beauty into the hands of women all over the world.~from Loraccosmetics.com

So back to why we are here... talking about the best liquid liner EVER. What is so special about this liner you ask? First I want you to know that the brush is a little bit more stiff than some really flimsy brushes I have seen before so it makes application a breeze. It is perfectly shaped to allow thick or thin application and is pigmented so well it doesn't take more than one swipe to create a perfect line. I have had no issues with the liner migrating and the brush is so perfect I have never gotten it in my eye (which seriously hurts). It's long wearing I have fallen asleep (a boo boo I know) and it is still going strong in the AM! This eye liner has me swooning. I also love the pen design rather an the little wand most of us are use to. The pen also automatically releases the liquid so you can't accidentally put too much on the brush while dipping. Just recap and reuse! Perfect!

Tip: Still can't apply with a steady hand? Place elbow on a firm surface while applying the liner.

For a crisp line close your eye and pull taut with your free hand.
