Anti-Aging in your 20's

Prevention is the key to using anti-aging products in your 20's. I frankly don't think it's ever too early  to prevent sagging skin and wrinkles.

This iconic image from 'There's Something About Mary' lingers in my brain when I hear the word "aging". Here are my tips to preventing this leathery wrinkle face classic "Floridian" look.

1. Put down the tanning lotion and replace it with sunscreen!

This is a major must do to prevent this look. I am a girl who loves tanning and coincidentally loves to be tan, I think it helps me look healthier and adds some "glow" to a drab complexion. However I am beginning to embrace my pale face and try some new products! With so many self-tanning agents out there, it's unnecessary to slab on the baby oil and bake outside (or inside if you're so inclined) instead try these great products for a perfect tan.

NOTE: Check all sunless tanning products to make sure they have SPF in them, if they do not supplement by using your own!

2. In the morning exfoliate using an alpha-hydroxy cleanser.

Alpha-hydoxy acid helps to brighten and refresh your skin.

3. At night use a retinol cream.

4. STOP Smoking!

Once a week beauty routine

So one time a week I add a few things to my beauty routine. I think these little tricks are important and I love that they're only once a week, it's like a day of self care and pampering which every Glossy Gurl needs.

1. Exfoliate your lips... I know this sounds silly but it's important it helps plump your lips and make them softer. I use my toothbrush. I just gently massage my lips when I get out of the shower on Sunday and then apply my favorite balm. Read my review here. It makes my lips super soft and totally kissable.

2. Use a clarifying shampoo... I use RUSK clarifying shampoo one time a week, guess what day? Sunday! Clarifying shampoos are really important to maintaining healthy tresses. Dust, dirt, hair products all build during the week and it's really important we strip these away. It really makes a difference in volume and manageability of hair. You will quickly notice the change if you add this to your routine.

3. Deep conditioning... I put my conditioner in my hair and leave it in for an extended period of time (8-10 minutes) it's important you focus on the ends of your hair they take the most damage. I put conditioner at the roots in the last 3 minutes of my conditioning I don't want oily hair. Rinse with cold water (it closes those cuticles to keep moisture in)!

4. Use a protein spray...I use Keyano Aromatics Protein Spray one time a week. Focusing again on the ends of damaged hair, this spray helps rebuild the proteins in your hair and mend breakage. Important for a girl who straightens, curls and uses heat to manage tresses.
