How To: Matte Polish with a sparkle pop!

Hey gorgeous! So I didn't realize it had been such a long time that I hadn't posted. Apparently my days just sorta got away from me for a bit. So sorry!

Today I was playing around with a Matte top coat and some sparkle to top it off... this is a video I made to explain the process.

I used Hard Candy "Matte-ly in love" it works very well! Hope you enjoy!

How to: Katniss Everdeen The Girl On Fire Nail Art

Hello Hello! I hope this finds you all well! The second part of our Hunger Games series brings us to some nail art. In the first book Katniss describes her nails as having flames on them! As the girl on fire this is very fitting for her. In this tutorial I am going to show you all my take on her gorgie fiery nails! If you haven't read the books that's totally okay, this look is fierce and bold which is something every girl deserves to feel!

I received major compliments on these! It's really hard to capture on film or in picture but the sparkle on these nails is amazing! They really do look like a burning flame on your nails! I chose to do just two fire nails because I wanted them to be wearable not costume! Have fun with this look though, change the color of the glitter or add a gradient, this look is totally customizable to be perfectly and uniquely you!

How to: St. Pattys day nails!

Hello gorgeous! I'm feeling better thank goodness although not 100% yet. However I have a gorgie nail tutorial for you today! I live in New Hampshire so I'm pretty close to Boston and on Boston Saint Patrick's Day is a huge deal!! Yay Irish!!

To create polka dots: you can use several tools to create a polka dot... Toothpick, bobby pin or hair pin and you can use the tip of the brush itself by dabbing the color off the sides and have only a fine layer at the circle tip (note this will not work with the new thick brushes) so dab your light green on top of the dark green or vice versa

To create a rainbow: use a toothpick or a brush and paint color in a line into your nail ( I used one of my nail art brushes and just wiped the color off of it and dipped it in the color I wanted to use)

To create the pot of gold: I created a rounded edge similar to this ( ) and filled it in with black then used a gold polish and bobbed it on top... Very simple!

To create a shamrock: using your polka dot technique do three dots in the shape of a shamrock... Using a toothpick or bobby pin draw a stem! Super simple!!

How to: newspaper nail art

What's black and white and read all over? Newspaper! Remember that joke as a kid? Well this look is inspired by that.. I was so excited about finally doing this nail art I was running around Rite Aid yelling "Where's the alcohol!?" I sounded like a drunk, but oh well it was worth it for this totally wordy look!

Tools needed:

A light polish

Newspaper

Rubbing alcohol

Cotton ball

A top coat

My specific products used:

OPI Ridge Filler base coat

Sally Hansen lavender cloud

Seche vote top coat

Step 1: after base coat (optional but highly recommended) paint light color on nails

Step 2: apply top coat

Allow both to dry completely

Step 3: tear pieces of newspaper up to fit over nail. Soak cotton ball in rubbing alcohol

Step 4: place newspaper over finger and place a saturated cotton ball on top press firmly and hold for a moment careful not to slide newspaper or it will smudge

Repeat on all nails

Step 5: apply top coat

Get creative if you wish and try different colors... Use tape like I did to create the two toned nails.

Valentine Nails!

Hello Gorgeous! Sorry I have been MIA... I have been busy but have some super fab things in the works for you all! Disney Princess Inspired makeup!? Oh YES! Also beginning tomorrow is a super amazing giveaway in a collaboration with Sassy Fashionista we are bringing you a fabulous spring into spring giveaway! Stay TUNED.

So on to the nails. I clearly was pretty random but I love them. For the hearts I reached into my inner kindergartner and used tape and folded it in half and cut a heart shape... applied to nail... applied polish and VIOLA perfect heart nails!

The polka dots were done using the end of a bobby pin you can check out my youtube video here.

So there you go! They may be tacky but so is Valentine's Day! Use bright colors, do whatever you want! I have had TONS of compliments on these... who said nails need to match?

How To: Puzzle Piece Nail Art

So I spent my day hanging out with my favorite fellow fashion blogger Sassy Fashionista and we had a nail painting party! Here is a quick and easy nail design that looks fabulous and very professional.

Here is a picture of the end result:

What You Need:

Tape

2 colors

Optional:

Base Coat

Glitter

Top Coat

Items I Used:

Base Coat: OPI Ridge Filler

Pink: Jessica Harlequin

Grey: Zoya "Kelly"

Glitter: Essie "Set in Stone"

Top Coat: Seche Vite

Okay so let's get started!

Step 1: Apply Base Coat

Step 2: Apply the lighter of the two colors to the entire nail (I applied pink first)

(I applied Seche Vite between each layer)

Step 3: Put strips of tape on hand (remove and re-stick a few times to reduce stickiness)

Step 4: Apply tape to the DRIED nail in whatever desired shape you want (because I was going for the "puzzle piece" look I applied each nail with a different shape)

IMPORTANT: Make sure the tape is stuck down with no air bubbles so color does not spread

Step 5: Apply the second color to the nail 

Step 6: While the polish is still wet remove the tape (one side at a time) quickly to keep lines straight and defined

Viola! Super gorgeous nails.

I didn't want both hands to match perfectly so I applied different shapes to different nails on the other hand.

Sassy Fashionista suggested I add some sparkle so I added Essie Luxeffects "Set in Stone" to the grey. Which really added pop to the nail!

Glitter is optional but HIGHLY recommended! Apply your top coat and make sure you let these beautiful designs dry.
