Why I HATE to LOVE shopping

I love to shop, it's the plight of a fashionista, but it's not the spending, the crowds or the lines I hate. It's the self-esteem plunge that occurs anytime I go shopping. I love clothes, I have style, I don't want to wear a mumu. I hate when I walk into a store and see crazy sales (like Wet Seal, yesterday) and nothing fits me. It is a huge hit to my self-esteem no matter how educated I am and how passionately I believe that your body does not define you, it's still hard to accept that gorgeous skirt just won't fit no matter how much I suck in. It's hard to feel good about myself in these moments. I feel out of place and like everyone is staring at me. I find myself longing for that gorgeous blazer to fit and see thin little things fluttering around complaining that they are in a Small rather than an Extra Small. My quest usually results in me feeling sad, resentful and I end up buying things I don't need like makeup, handbags, shoes and scarves because they don't discriminate. No matter where I am one of the above will work for me. I leave feeling somewhat satisfied with my purchase yet still I can feel that tug inside that just screams because I don't look like everyone else. Honestly it's not something I think about on a regular basis, I wear cute, fashionable clothing and until I am facing a rack of $2 shirts at Wet Seal that don't fit I forget I don't look like the ideal woman.

My trusty accessories that never discriminate!

I don't understand why some companies don't even try to fit plus size women, is it shameful to see a bigger girl wearing their clothing? Why can an XL at Old Navy fit but not at American Eagle? Why isn't there a universal for clothing? Why are we numbered 6,8,10 and men get specific sizes 32" by 35".

Some stores that don't discriminate... Old Navy, Torrid, Lane Bryant, Gap, JcPenney, Maurices... can you think of others? Do you ever feel like this?

What's smoking hot this V-Day? Lingerie (the corset)

With Valentines day rapidly approaching we want to pay homage to something totally hot! Lingerie. This will be a series of posts detailing different types of lingerie... featuring current faves for all body sizes! For the first post in the series on the babydoll click here.

As women we can be supremely self-conscious no matter our body size/ shape. A piece of Glossy Gurl advice... if you have someone to wear it for, wear it with confidence! Your partner finds you utterly sexy and there is nothing more beautiful than a confident woman.

DON'T SHY AWAY FROM YOUR BODY EMBRACE IT!

The Corset: Sometimes called a bustier is a fitted top from the chest to the hips that helps shape the torso, can be laced up the front or the back.

Va Bien Low Back Bustier~ $ 55- JcPenney

This is gorgeous corset with it's lace detail. I love the color white it adds some innocence to something very sexy. This corset comes in cup sizes C and D. This corset has light boning for shaping and support.

The Hollywood Dream Lace Halter Corset~ $66- Fredericks of Hollywood

First of all I LOVE PURPLE. It adds flirty to this sexy top. The lace detail is gorgeous (I have a new obsession with lace I think it's the perfect combination of both retro and chic) This top features light boning to help create the perfect hourglass figure. It also has a lace-up back. The halter top is perfect for the well-endowed woman who needs extra support.
More colors available.

Biker Girl Corset~ $60- Fredericks of Hollywood

This is a classic corset featuring a front lacing detail. It has adjustable and detachable garters. This is super sexy. This top screams bad girl it is the not so innocent of the collection.

Believe it or not one of my favorite places for lingerie is Lane Bryant... here are a few of my current faves.
Ribbon Laced Corset~ $69.50- Lane Bryant

This corset features two of my favorite things... one being lace and the other is the gorgeous front lace detail. It makes getting sexy for your partner SO much easier... it's less tantalizing to have to ask them to lace you up. This makes it easy! Currently they only have a size 26/28 available... more will come soon I'm sure.

I'm sorry the above is hard to see but click on it and check it out. It's a gorgeous corset featuring a lace trim and comes in several colors. It's also the least expensive in this series. Available in plus sizes!

If you don't like the Corset stay tuned for our next in the lingerie series... the Teddy.
